Privacy

Daily Birbs is a static site. There are no accounts, no sign-in, and we never ask for your name or email.

What stays in your browser

Your puzzle results, streaks and stats are kept in your own browser's local storage, one entry per game. They are never sent to us and we cannot read them — which is also why they don't follow you to another device, and why clearing site data for Daily Birbs resets them.

What we measure

We count traffic so we can tell which games people actually play. Two tools run on these pages:

Game events (planned)

Not active yet. Today the measurement above is page views only. We are adding per-puzzle events, and would rather describe them here before they switch on than after.

Once live, finishing a daily puzzle will send Google Analytics one event describing that result: which game it was, the puzzle date, whether you won, how many guesses you used, your current streak and how many games you have played. A coarse streak band (for example 2-4 or 10-29) will also be stored against your analytics cookie, so it persists between visits rather than describing a single page view.

All of it is derived from the stats your browser already holds. It contains no free text and nothing that identifies you personally — but it is behavioural data tied to a cookie, so it is worth stating plainly rather than filing under “page views”. This section loses the “planned” label when it ships.

Opting out

Any tracker-blocking browser extension stops both tools, as does blocking cookies for this site or using Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. The games themselves keep working with analytics blocked — your stats and streaks are local and do not depend on it.

Advertising

There is no advertising on Daily Birbs today. The layout reserves space for it, but no ad network is loaded and no ad cookies are set. If that changes, this page changes with it.

Changes

This page is updated when the site's data practices change.
